About Slack

Slack is one of the biggest startup stories to come out of Vancouver, and is now worth more than $20 billion.

The founder of Slack, Stewart Butterfield, had developed an online game called Glitch in 2011. It only lasted a year before pivoting to focus on the chat function that was built into the game. Slack launched in 2013 and had a meteoric rise in user acquisition.

In January 2015, Slack purchased Screenhero which allowed video and screensharing to be built into Slack's app.

Slack has more than 10 million daily users.
