About MDA

MDA, which stands for MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates, Ltd., is a Vancouver-based company that provides space robotics, ground systems, satellite antennas, and defence systems. It was founded in 1969 in Vancouver and was responsible for building the Canadarm.

Its founders are two past UBC engineering grads, John S. MacDonald and Vern Dettwiler.

MDA is now a subsidiary of Maxar Technologies based in Westminster, Colorado.
