Telus is a national communications company headquartered in Vancouver. They are known for phone, internet and tv packages. They have consolidated operating revenue of $3.7 billion.
History
Telus was first created in 1990 by the Government of Alberta as they privatized AGT (Alberta Government Telephones Commission). It acquired EdTel, Edmonton’s biggest phone provider. In 1996 the organization rebranded itself as Telus.
In 1999 Telus merged with BCTel and moved its headquarters to Vancouver.
The company has a very strong presence in Western Canada due to its original location in Edmonton before its merger with BC Tel in 1999.
The American telecommunications giant Verizon Communications sold 20.5% of its stake in Telus in 2004. At the time the stock was valued at $2.3 billion.
In October 2019, Telus stated their plans to purchase home security company ADT for $700 million.
Telus Mobility
Telus Mobility is the mobile phone division of Telus. It is Canada’s third largest cellphone company. According to their 2019 Q3 news release they now have over 10 million subscribers.
Koodo Mobile
In 2008 Telus created Koodo, a low cost mobile phone provider to capture a younger audience.

Telus Health
Telus health acquired Emergis in 2007 for $763 million to begin entering the healthcare services market. Telus Health provides services and software for electronic medical records, pharmacy management, claims, appointment scheduling, and more.
CEO
Darren Entwistle is the President and CEO of Telus. He joined the company in 2000 and "has generated a total shareholder return of 432 per cent,” according to Telus’ website.
Telus Garden
The Telus Garden is a landmark building on West Georgia Street in Vancouver that has 1,000,000 square feet of office space. In August 2018 Telus then sold the building for $170 million.
